Well we're 3 days in, and are fully enjoying it :-) 13 hours of flying to LA (after leaving an hour and a half late) we transited in LA for a couple of hours. The LAX staff did a reasonable job of presenting the stereotypical gruffness American customs and immigration people are known for :-P A couple of hours later we caught the same plane (we think) on a flight to NY. Once in NY we used the subway to get to our hostel and subsequently crashed.
New York was covered in snow when we arrived, and it snowed most of Tuesday too, which makes for some picturesque scenery. Specific highlights so far (for me at least!): walking through Central Park in the snow, the Bronx Zoo, eating NY Pizza, watching the New York Knicks play the Chicago Bulls at Madison Square Gardens (complete with the big screen proposal). Other memorable things are stuff like riding the subway, wandering around China Town (including the fastest sit down meal we've ever had), ice skating in Central Park, Times Square, Ground Zero, buying American food etc.
Tonight we went and saw Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, which was amazing. We lined up in the freezing cold for a good hour and a half to get tickets, but it was well worth it :-)
Generally I think we're feeling pretty good, although spending most of the day on our feet is taking its toll. Looking forward to a week in Mexico next week!
Here are some photos to finish! I'm hoping to post 3 from every day, which I hope means I'm more careful about what photos I take. Not sure if that's been true yet. There are more photos on my (Alex's) Facebook page.
