New York part 2

Yesterday was a big day on our feet, although we didn't start until after lunch. We walked by the NY Public Library, Empire State Building, and then down to Wall St and the financial district. Trinity Church is just over 300 years old (well, at least in part), and is now surrounded by huge sky-scrapers. Nik & I spent a fair bit of time inside, including looking at a photography exhibition. An interesting and thought provoking session :-)

Then after some wandering around down to the East River and Central Park again, we went up to the Museum of Modern Art. We went not really knowing anything about it (except that it was free entry after 4!), and not knowing what they had on display. We ended up spending a good couple of hours there, and saw, amongst others, artworks by Picasso, Dali, Frida Kahlo, Peit Mondrian, Edvard Munch, van Gogh (The Starry Night!!), Matisse, Cezanne, Seuat, Jackson Pollock, Andy Wahol, and to top it off, Monet's Waterlilies. A feast!! I'd highly recommend it if you're visiting NY.

We went out for breakfast this morning to a "diner" in Greenwich Village (waffles, bacon, eggs etc and then walked through SOHO and along Canal St which runs through China town and was packed with people doing Chinese New Year stuff. Back to the hostel for some downtime before we fly out to Mexico at 12:50 am tonight (fun!). Looking forward to it though :-)
